Designated Bathing Water Sites

Various open-water sites in our municipality have been designated as places for outdoor swimming. The Omgevingsdienst (Environmental Service) monitors the quality of the water at three of those spots, so you can be confident about the safety of the water there. Please note: there is no supervision at these sites.

Venues and Water Quality

The following spots are designated bathing water sites:

  • Het Hoefsven
  • The city beach De Surfvijver
  • Hof van Capelle

The Omgevingsdienst (Environmental Service) monitors the water quality between 1 May and 30 September. You can check the water quality at each site on the website zwemwater.nl(in Dutch).

Safety

Please look out for one another! There is no supervision at these sites. You can help by keeping an eye on one another, both on the beach and in the water.

What should you do if someone gets into trouble in the water?

  • Draw attention to others on the beach and ask for help.
  • Ring 112!
  • If available: throw something that floats, such as a football, to the person in trouble.
  • Keep watching the person in the water so you know where he or she is.

What should you do if you yourself get into trouble in the water?

  • Try to stay calm and breathe slowly.
  • Call or wave to the shore for help.
  • Save your energy by floating on your back.
  • If available: use something to float on, such as a football.

We all want to keep the swimming sites clean and pleasant, so we have laid down some ground rules for their use:

  • Throw your litter in the litter bin.
